What Impact Can Post-Genderists have on Society?

Post-Genderists are concrete counter examples to the validity of the gender binary. The gender binary is so ingrained in western society that it may never be completely eliminated, however post-genderists and their allies may be able to continue to chip away at the rigidity of the gender binary. Thanks to the works of scholars such as Anne Fausto-Sterling and Sandra Bem, many biology professors teach that gender is on a continuum. The more professors and teachers espouse this message the more likely it will enter the canon of common knowledge and  become accepted by Western society.

When/if this happens  people will be freer to express their gender identity without fear of ostracism. As more and more people express their gender identity outside of the dichotomy, companies that market to a specific gender will have to change their strategy. Additionally, society will become more willing to address demands for the elimination of everyday items that impede the quality of life of post-gendered people such as gendered pronouns, the requirement to check male or female on forms and choose between using a male or female restroom.

If expression of gender outside of the binary is accepted, than the possibility of self expression outside other norms could increase. The more social constructions that are torn down, the easier it will be for others to be challenged.
